Ottawa ShareClub Meeting - May 6th, 2014 - Automobile Hidden Costs, Annuities, Guest Speaker

MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT -  OTTAWA SHARECLUB— TUESDAY MAY 6TH  AT 7:00 PM .

NEW MEETING LOCATION! **THE  MARCONI CENTER (Villa Marconi), 2nd Floor, 1026 Baseline Road  ( 1 block north/east of Merivale across from the Experimental Farms).

The Ottawa ShareClub is a nonprofit organization which is dedicated to the sharing of financial knowledge. It is not an investment club. At our up-coming meeting, you will connect with people who have similar interests who are willing to share their knowledge and experience. Join in, make comments, ask questions and participate!

THE MARKET – A quick over- view of the markets including noteworthy issues and commentary presented by Tony Petermann

The “ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION TOPIC" –  We take them for granted and we probably use one every day - THE AUTOMOBILE -  will be led by Dave Audette. The purchasing of autos is the 2nd largest material expense that we will incur over our lifetimes. Additionally, we will spend an incredible amount of money annually on auto related expenses!
  • If you had to give one piece of advice to someone buying a car/truck, what would it be?
  • Should you buy new or used; should you lease or buy ? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
  • Do you use a Car Cost Service? Or a V.I.N. check?  Don’t know what they are or how to use one? Here is your chance to get an explanation.
  • What research do you do before purchasing or leasing? (crash worthiness, reliability, fuel consumption, resale value or maintenance costs?)
  • Who makes the buying decision in your household? Are they shared decisions? If not, what problems have they caused?
At the ShareClub, we share knowledge, opinions and resources and we learn from each other. Join us in what should be a very interesting and lively discussion! Share your opinions, knowledge and experience and don’t be afraid to ask questions and don’t be afraid to “jump in”!

MAIN TOPIC - RETIREMENT CONCERNS OF CANADIANS – ANNUITIES

Rino is a graduate of both The University of Toronto and Seneca College. He has also taken The Canadian Securities Course, The Canadian Funds Course and the Life Underwriters Association Training Course. Rino will be travelling from the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) to meet with us.
