MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT
(posted on the behalf of the Ottawa ShareClub - click here for more details) When: Tue May 14, 2013 7pm – 9:30pm Eastern Time - Montreal Where: Ottawa Citizen Conference Centre - 1101 Baxter Road, Ottawa
Do you want to become a more confident investor in these difficult economic times? Are you looking to expand your investment knowledge and invest in new and exciting ways? At our meeting, you will connect with people who have similar interests and are willing to share their investment experiences. I am sure you will be able to walk away with improved investment abilities. Take a look at our upcoming May 14 summary agenda. Dave will lead a participatory discussion - Technical analysis is a method of analyzing stocks to forecast the direction of prices by studying past market data, primarily price and volume. What has been your experience using Technical analysis, both good and bad? If you don’t use it, why not? A secondary topic for TUESDAY's round table discussion - Have you checked your stock portfolio to find that some of your stocks are down 10%, 15%, 20% or more? Did you develop a trading plan that limited your downside? Would stop losses have provided downside protection if only you had established them?” STOP LOSSES” are one of the tools that should be in your trading kit. Do you agree or disagree? What are the pros and cons? Investopedia defines a 'Stop-Loss Order' as; An order placed with a broker to sell a security when it reaches a certain price. A stop-loss order is designed to limit an investor's loss on a security position. Also known as a "stop order" or "stop-market order". For example setting a stop-loss order for 10% below the price you paid for the stock will limit your loss to 10%. This strategy allows investors to determine their loss limit in advance, preventing emotional decision-making. Matthew Cleveland will present - Using technical analysis to help you make better investment decisions.
