The Ottawa Share Club in its 18th year is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the sharing of financial knowledge. It is not an investment club. Agenda:
Round table / discussion: What are your sources (electronic, paper, human...) of financial advice? How have these evolved - Eric Main Speaker: Warren MacKenzie is a frequent contributor to the Globe and Mail Financial facelift column; he is the author or co-author of several books including “New Rules of Retirement”, “The Unbiased Advisor”, and the “CARP Financial Planning Guide”. He will bring a dozen books to hand out to attendees who have good questions. He is the founder of Weigh House Investor Services and now works as a Stewardship Counselor with High View Financial Services. His education includes training as a Chartered Accountant, Certified Financial Planner, and Certified Investment Management Analyst. Topic: 50+ things “Do It Yourself” (DIY) investors should consider doing now The 50 + points are broken down into 10 different categories and Warren will go into detail on one or two items from each category. This list has been developed over 20 years of practical experience in working with DIY investors and seeing many who have been very successful and others who would have done better by buying a portfolio of exchange traded funds. For DIY investors who also use the services of a financial advisor, Warren will provide a list of 10 things that investors should insist on receiving. Take this opportunity to ask the expert! Bring a friend; bring your questions and opinions and join us for refreshments. Remember, what you learn at this meeting may not only be of benefit to you, but it may be of benefit to a family member or close friend. There is a $5 door fee. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday March 17th, 2015. |
